Applications are now open for the Sustainable Production award at Origins! Apply here now until May 15th.

For the Sustainable Production Award we are looking for games with thoughtful production that take strides towards sustainable manufacturing. While it is easier to fill out this form if you are self-nominating, we also welcome nominations for games where you are not the publisher. Just to be clear, the award is for the publisher of the game.

In the Green Games Guide, we outline a series of Good, Better and Best practices. A game doesn’t need to be ‘Best’ in all of these to be considered. A heavy strategy game with many components is not as easy to produce sustainably as a simple card game. The important thing is that the publisher of this game undertook efforts to reduce the impact on the natural environment.

The Green Games Guide and GAMA are looking for inspiring stories of games that are pushing the envelope and putting the effort in to reduce their environmental impact.

Thank you for working to make game manufacturing more sustainable and we look forward to reviewing your submission.

Submissions process

To submit a game for consideration to the GAMA and Green Games Guide Sustainable Production Award you will be asked to self-select an answer to the following questions about the sustainability achievements made with the design, manufacturing and distribution process.

The categories are based on the existing sections of the GGG – please make sure to have consulted the GGG document before submission, as you will need to refer to the details of each of the different “levels” of sustainability achievement in each area.

Eligibility: Products produced (available to consumers for the first time) between January 1 and December 31, of the previous year are eligible for this year’s award. The game needs to have been produced in a physical format.

Submissions close on May 15th of each year with the results to be announced at the Origins Game Fair in mid-June.
